Being able to spend more time outdoors is one of the great things about the spring and summertime. If you are looking forward to spending more time outdoors and want your dog to tag along for the fun, there are some things you need to know about their safety. Just like us, our loyal companions can become just as dehydrated. The only difference is that we can’t tell when they are. Keep your dog cool in the summer heat with these tips.
- Watch out for heatstroke. If you do vigorous exercise with your dog, make sure you exercise in the cooler hours of the morning or evening.
- Never leave your dog in the car – even for a few minutes – in the heat. Just a few short minutes in these conditions can lead to irreversible organ damage or death.
- Make sure you provide plenty of water. For an outside dog, an automatic dog waterer or a Pet Water Bottle is the perfect way to provide clean fresh water.
These tips can help to prevent dehydration, keep them energized and ready to have fun in the sun without worrying. Now, head out to the local park in Irvine with your dog for a game of catch or Frisbee.
